Green Design at the Missouri Botanical Garden

MBG now uses their parking lot to showcase and interpret sustainable design for Garden visitors as they arrive. MTR’s design for the renovated "Eco-Lot" sets an example for sustainability in an urban setting by increasing tree cover, using native plants, and treating stormwater in rain gardens and with five types of porous paving.

In the 1990s MTR designed a sustainable site for MBG’s herbarium that included grass paving, stormwater management, and use of native and drought tolerant plants. In February 2010, the Monsanto Center officially earned silver certification under the LEED EB-Operations and Maintenance rating system.
